Description
The Excellence in Teaching Program (ETP) is CESA 9’s Educator Preparation Program. We offer DPI-approved pathways for people to obtain their initial teaching license or to add on additional license areas. Our pathways:
Post-Baccalaureate Initial License
This pathway is designed for people with a bachelor’s degree (or higher) who are either employed on a license with stipulations within a district or are career changers who would like to become teachers. The ETP license areas that we offer are Special Education, Math, Science, Social Studies, English, World Languages, Art, Music, Theater/Drama, Health, Business, Family/Consumer Sciences, and Computer Science. Our 11-month program consists of coursework in both an online and face-to-face setting, a clinical experience, and a capstone portfolio. For more information about the program, please visit ETP. New cohorts begin each September.
Reading Teacher 316 Certification
The ETP Reading Teacher 316 license is designed for people who already hold a WI teaching license. Our 18-month licensure program consists of coursework, clinical experience, and a capstone portfolio. The coursework is grounded in the science behind how children learn to read. The research-informed content and practices embedded within the program will expand the teacher’s knowledge base and further prepare them to meet a wide range of literacy needs. New cohorts begin each January (more information).
3-Year District-sponsored License with Stipulations Portfolio
The ETP is now offering support and review of the 3-year District-sponsored License with Stipulations pathway. This license pathway is intended for the district’s current licensed staff members who are teaching outside of their license areas. During this 3-year process, participants will engage with the CESA 9 ETP coaches to plan their growth, monitor their progress, and develop their portfolio, culminating in a portfolio review by the ETP team and endorsement for the new license. Enrollment for this program is ongoing (more information).
