Description
This service supports districts in strengthening curriculum, instruction, and assessment through a customized service contract aligned to district priorities. In partnership with district leaders and teacher teams, CESA 9 provides targeted instructional support to align curriculum with state standards, develop high-quality units of instruction, support curriculum materials adoption, and improve classroom assessment practices. The scope of work, role expectations, and number of service days are collaboratively determined to ensure instruction is coherent, standards-aligned, and responsive to student learning needs.
This service allows districts to create a customized service contract that defines the scope of work, role responsibilities, and number of service days based on district needs. Support is flexible and collaborative, with services designed to strengthen curriculum alignment, instructional coherence, and assessment practices.
State Standards Alignment with Curriculum
- Collaborate with grade-level or vertical teams to examine standards (e.g., CCSS, NGSS), including content, skills, and cognitive demand
- Analyze local curriculum for alignment to state standards
- Develop action plans to address gaps, redundancies, or misalignment between standards and curriculum
Curriculum Development Aligned to State Standards
- Establish leadership teams with subject-area expertise
- Create and train staff on unit-of-instruction templates
- Develop standards-aligned units using instructional resources
- Support implementation and analysis of student work to determine effectiveness and proficiency
Curriculum Materials Adoption
- Establish leadership teams to guide materials review, pilot implementation, and selection
- Develop evaluation criteria aligned to state standards
- Facilitate materials review and decision-making processes
- Support implementation and professional learning for adopted materials
Classroom Assessment
- Provide professional learning on high-quality classroom assessment practices
- Facilitate teacher teams in developing common, standards-aligned assessments
- Support collaborative analysis of student work to inform instructional adjustments
- Strengthen MLSS systems through aligned professional learning and assessment practices
