Description
An Educational Interpreter facilitates communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing (DHH) students and their general education teachers, peers, and other persons who do not share the student’s primary communication. Services include:
- Interpretation in general education classes and other environments as appropriate at the educational level and through the communication mode used by the student(s) under the direction of the special education teacher(s)
- Interpretation and communication between students and IEP team members
- Provide a communication link between regular education teachers and special education teachers/case managers
- Provide reinforcement, expansion, and development of signed vocabulary under the direction of the teacher of the hearing impaired
