Description
Project SEARCH provides total immersion in a large community business enabling young adults 18+ with disabilities to gain and maintain employment through training and career exploration. This unique Transition-to-Work Program is a business-led, one-year employment preparation program that takes place entirely at the workplace.
The current host site is Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Stakeholders include CESA 9 school districts, vocational service providers, vocational rehabilitation agencies, and long-term service providers.
Students report to the host site where they learn employability skills through a combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training through worksite rotations. The goal at the end of the school year is for interns to acquire competitive community employment.
