Description
CESA 9 NVCI trainers instruct district staff in proactive verbal de-escalation strategies using a common communication framework for safety intervention and disengagement skills. Evidence-based instruction includes positive behavioral supports and interventions, conflict prevention and management, evaluating risk of harm, documentation, and debriefing.
Wis.Stat 118.305(6) requires at least one person, per building in a district, to be trained. A record of staff who successfully complete training for certification must be maintained by the district along with the period of time the training is considered valid.
