Our Vision
Our vision is to provide an outstanding, rigorous, relevant program of study that actively engages candidates using a job-embedded, learn-by-doing approach, that models effective instruction for deep 21st century learning, and that prepares them thoroughly for career opportunities as highly qualified teachers.
Program Overview
Whether pursuing a second career or looking to do something different with your degree, CESA 9 offers a pathway to become a teacher.
If you have a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas: Math, Science, Social Studies, English, World Languages, Art, Music, Theatre/Drama, Business or Computer Science, our DPI-approved 11-month program, consisting of rigorous and relevant courses, on-the-job learning and support from our staff, will prepare you to become a licensed teacher.
Your ETP Journey
In the first step of your journey, you will complete the application process and meet with our admissions team to plan your path to licensure. Your coursework will begin in late summer and will continue through the following June. You will take approximately one course per month, with both online and face-to-face meetings. Our courses incorporate a variety of engaging learning activities, frequent and varied assessment with feedback and self-reflection. While completing your study, you will be mentored by course instructors who are readily available to answer your questions and support you in the process.
Included in the program are numerous field experiences, including a semester of practice teaching, designed to prepare you to enter the classroom upon finishing the program. Recognizing that learning is continuous, a unique feature of CESA 9’s Excellence in Teaching Program is that we also provide mentoring and professional development for the year following the completion of the program!
